    Punchiness

How do you guys adjust the tone on your basses? Its been a while since I've posted here, but getting back into a Jazz Band, I wanted to know in what way I can make my bass sound punchier. While I absolutely love the sound of the flats I have on my P bass, sometimes that punchiness is necessary...

Thanks. I would lke to keep it around $3oo though. I like the VM serious and a nice used MIM would be good. Hey someone said the same thing as me, in the adult way. Thanks man. I personally feel like older squires are hit and miss, same with MIMs, anything after 09 is usually good, but some...

Alright. Ill try both for $400, that'd be great. Ill keep it in mind. Ill try that. My problem with a p/j is that i already have a p, which is not worth adding another pickup too. And if i were to get another bass, i would get a jazz. Ill try it. Probably will end up with a jazz So, I...

Ill check it out Thanks. Ill check out that acoustic. By the extra money i mean is it worth spending the money in general, or will it be pretty much the same as my p

Thanks Thanks My budget right now is $300ish, but as the year goes on and through the summer ill probably be able to go up a little, to 4-500 tops, at very most with all my cash. True. Ill try experimenting.... Ive really wanted to try a squier vm 77, but they don't have them anywhere...

I see. As of right now, i talked to the director, and he wants me to audition on bass guitar. He did say that if i do make it, he wants me to focus more on upright as far as jazz goes, but it is possible that ill be playing electric in the band. Of course, after i learn the audition music, ill...

I quite literally said, that i am just a kid, and that I'm new to this. So sure, i don't have a lot of experience, but having everything negotiable just isn't logical. The car is priced at 30k for a reason, man. Sure, they appreciate the knowledge, but they don't appreciate smartasses, such...

Honestly, I prefer maple necks and maple fingerboards. I am more comfortable on electric in general. I also generally prefer the look and feel of Fenders, (Squier included). Passive seems simpler, but active could be interesting. I love this advice. Ive been in GC 4000 times in the last 5 months...

True. Going back to the FSR. I hate how it looks. I absolutely despise the look of that bass. But, i love how it plays and feels and sounds. Of course, now for $600 I'm not going to touch that for a while....

I can get the sound close, but not quite there. Like mentioned above, it won't be the same to an upright. But, i can get it close with a crappy p and some nice broken flats, and a few amp adjustments. When I'm going for that upright sound i do pluck differently. Of course, not the same, but i...

I personally prefer the sound of electric in big bands. The director strongly prefers upright, and it is his band, so I'm fine with that, just not as skilled at it. i have put in the work, maybe not quite enough. I started music in general a year ago. I started upright 7 months ago, along with...
