    NBD: Le Fay Schwarz 5

Impressive collection! Maybe I need to get two more of them then :)

    NBD: Le Fay Schwarz 5

Yes, the Munich guys are among their retailers or stockists or whatever it is called. Apparently, as everywhere else, the pandemic has made their waiting list even longer in Kiebitzreihe. It makes sense: if you are bored during lockdown, buy a Le Fay :) We'll see about the clips, maybe when I...

    NBD: Le Fay Schwarz 5

Yes I agree, even though I actually did not chose the color and design myself. I first talked with Reiner Dobbratz about ordering a customized bass, but when I realized that the delivery time is more than a year I lost patience and started to look for either a used or an in-stock bass. This one...

That is an interesting observation. So what happened, really? The world went vintage?

Yes, like basshack wrote it is the truss rod cover, made in ebony. Is is fixed with a magnet, so you just kind of press on one side to open. It's fun. I could consider removing the strings just to play with it for a while :-D

It is actually the first bass I have bought since 1985, when I got my JB, hahaha. It took me 36 years to take the next step.

    NBD: Le Fay Schwarz 5

This week I got my new Le Fay. It's a Schwarz 5-string with sandwich ash body. This is an absolutely amazing instrument. I have had it for some days now and I just can't keep my hands from it. It is addictive both thanks to the mere tactile pleasure of playing it, and for the tone, which is...

When did you stop gigging due to age?

I am just 57 and don't belong here (quite yet), but I do gig regularly with a drummer who turns 79 this fall. He is still going strong. On the set list we usually have Chuck Willis' "(I don't wanna) hang up my rock and roll shoes" :)

Official Fender Bassman Club Pt II

Well, it's a Fender of course :) By good copy I meant a good exemplar, or specimen. But my very first bass was a JBX Jazz Bass copy. That did not have much low end at all, hehe. I painted it black and used it as a fretless for a while. Then sold it to a an old friend, I would guess he still has it.

The JB I bought in Stockholm, I think it was at the classic guitar shop "Hellhound", probably in 1985 or perhaps -86. It is from 1976, I think (or -75?): serial no. 603500. It looked like hell already when I bought it, and I have messed it up even more through the years. But lately, the paint...

Well, I really would need to try out a multiscale before I buy one, because just the sight makes my head spin :) Anyway we should be grateful that the Le Fays don't try to speed up production to meet the demand, but instead stick to their excellent craftsmanship.

There is in fact a multi-scale 5-string on the market, but I am not into fanned frets. And I would prefer a 4-string standard Schwarz, even though I could live with a fiver too. Here is a fretless 6-string in stock for you, at a bargain price ;-) : LeFay Remington Steele 6st 2020 Natural *RARE...

Sure! I wrote a presentation in the New member thread, but I can summarize the things of pure Bassman relevance here. I have played the bass since I was 14 in 1978, and my first rig was a FBT tube amp with a cab, an Italian 1960s thing, pretty lousy, but I liked it. When I started to play more...
