    Double Bass Endpin rubber unscrewing

I’ve had success the past few years just using a flat washer between the rubber and the metal collar. The rubber end no longer unscrews on its own but is as easy to remove when I want to use the spike.

Double Bass 1940 Gibson all-solid-woods bass

My understanding is that Gibson had an Expat Italian bass maker make 2 or 3 (can’t remember) carved basses as prototypes for Gibson. One of them made it’s way into the hands of George Duvivier. He says in his book that bass dealers used to come around to gigs with basses they were trying to...

    Double Bass Major Holley

+1 or +1+1. I'm always awed by his sound. He's always present and big sounding without being overpowering or too loud.

SOLD 3/4 Czech/Bohemian Flat Back bass for sale $6800

SOLD This is a great sounding Czech or Bohemian bass from mid to late 1800's for sale. This bass projects well and has a lot of volume and sustain. It has a big sound plucked or bowed. The upper register really sings and the bass is clear and even from the top to the bottom. It is really easy...

Double Bass D Neck - Not quite. Need some advice

Agree with the post above. Could be a couple things though. Is your bridge leaning forward or back? Is the nut extended past the base of the scroll? Are you placing your thumb all the way down on the heel of the neck or are you letting it stop where the curve begins? Is your first finger...

Double Bass Choked gut D string

You could try threading the D string so that it's coming out the bottom side of your tailpiece instead of the top. This helps a little by adding just a bit more tension to the string. Leave the other strings as they are. It probably won't completely solve the problem but usually helps...
