I’ve had success the past few years just using a flat washer between the rubber and the metal collar. The rubber end no longer unscrews on its own but is as easy to remove when I want to use the spike.

For seated playing, I use a pin fabricated from a spare 10mm rod, oak, and a New Harmony spike.
The tip stays in place fairly well because the threads aren’t too loose, but a tiny rosin booger at the top of the threads provided a little extra grab. This wouldn’t work if you wanted a semi-permanent bond. On my standard pin, a rubber washer between the tip and collar worked well when tightened until the washer compressed. View attachment 3639408
Digging up an old thread, as I have tried another approach that has seemed to work well to keep the screw tip from loosening constantly. As an alternative to a thread locking compound, try applying pure beeswax to the threads. Works better for me!
Flat washer on top of the rubber end and a lock washer between the flat washer and the bushing should work. Keeps the bolts on my exhaust manifold from moving. YMMV>
