Guidance on Changing Out MIA Precision Bass Pickup

It's a nice pickup, but it still seems to lack some of the tone that I'd expect from a more "vintage" pickup. I could be wrong, though.

Guidance on Changing Out MIA Precision Bass Pickup

I'm looking at buying a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II P-Bass pickup for my 2015 MIA Precision. Can anybody give me some guidance or pointers on how to swap out the original with the new pickup. Or, would it wise to just take it in and have it done professionally?

Just got my brand new MIA Precision yesterday! It's a great compliment to my '51 Reissue Precision. I'd love a number, please!

    Recommendations Needed!

So with the Carvin, the amp is basically "neutral" in that what you hear is more the instrument?

Great point! I'm looking for something more warm and thumpy. No need for distortion really.

    Recommendations Needed!

So, I'm looking to buy a combo amp for practices and small gigs that is portable yet still has great tones. I'm looking to spend under $500 and I prefer to have more than 150 watts. I play a lot of Blues, so-called "Classic Rock" (such as The Band and the Stones), as well as Country Rock (Gram...

Thoughts on Fender Road Worn Precision Basses?

Agreed. I'm 25, would it be that outrageous to think that I bought an old bass? You don't need to buy a new bass and have it wear. People buy old basses all the time! The more I think about it, who cares what other people think. The real benefit (it sounds like) to the RW basses is that they...

Thoughts on Fender Road Worn Precision Basses?

Nothing that fully answered my questions. A lot of what I found was "technical" in nature, where I'm also looking for opinions on the looks and the "idea" of the finish. Didn't mean to sound like a jerk there.

Thoughts on Fender Road Worn Precision Basses?

I'm more going for a sound than a look to be honest. I play a lot of blues, classic rock, country-rock (old stuff like Gram Parsons and the Byrds' Sweathart of the Rodeo). My '51 P-Bass is great but I would like a very solid secondary (or 1A) bass. I have an Epi Ripper which is a fine instrument...

Thoughts on Fender Road Worn Precision Basses?

What it really came down to was the tones. It had the '62 Custom Shop Pickup and it just didn't sound right. The neck also felt a bit too narrow to me. I prefer very beefy necks as I have slightly larger hands. This is the reason I dislike Jazz basses as I don't like the thinness of the necks...

Thoughts on Fender Road Worn Precision Basses?

I sold my '14 MIA P-Bass because I simply wasn't happy with it. I figured I'd sell it and buy something else instead of wasting time/money putting upgrades into it. Anyways, as I've been looking through the TB forums and the Fender forums, I read posts about people saying great things about the...
