Quick update, it is now passive with 4 single gang pots & knobs. Volume for each pickup, Tone/low pass, Tone frequency, using a Stellartone Tonestyler B-10. it sounds incredible, it suits the pickups much better. The Tone + Tonestyler to give variable roll off frequency and depth is amazing...

Agreed, just ordered the parts and going to wire it next week. I have found these pickups are so sensitive to the resistance applied to them through any wiring. That fretless p I mentioned previously has no knobs and originally was wired pickup straight to output but ended up putting a socket...

I'm liking the idea of something like this the more I think about it. Alternatively, the bass has those nice stacked wood knobs already, so it could be possible to use something like volume/passive tone+ b/t stack for each pickup or even just one of the john east variable mid stacks for each...

Somehow forgot to mention that it currently has a John East ACG EQ-01 filter preamp and leaning towards passive just because my other 3 bisonic/darkstar basses are and all sound great.
