One of my very first bassists that I was influenced by was Jim Kale from The Guess Who. There was just something about his smoothness that added so much to their sound.

If the price is right I wouldn't let that condition bother me. As long as there's nothing wrong with it that will damper how it plays or sounds. I buy a bass to play it and it is going to get some dings in it.
