    Another Fat Mike Thread

I'm pretty sure this was before he played Danos, but that aside I'm thinking more in terms of his amp settings, EQing, etc.

    Another Fat Mike Thread

Yeah, I realize there are a bunch of threads about him, his tone and his playing, but I want to talk about his tone on the I Heard They Suck Live album. It's a really unique cool tone that's light and pingy but holds down the low end very well, for example, on Nowhere. Anyone have any ideas as...

Hartke David Ellefson Signature A70LTD Bass Combo

Just ordered it yesterday, guessing it will be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I feel like Hartke would have to be a truly evil corporation to simply make a carbon copy of an older amp and call it a "signature" :ninja: A friend of mine who knows quite a bit about gear says that he reckons the tone...

Hartke David Ellefson Signature A70LTD Bass Combo

Thinking about ordering one of these off of Sam Ash, as they are cheap. Does anybody have any info on the amp? How is the tone control? Would it sound good through my Squire Fender P-bass (Which is very versatile)?

    Fretting...With thumb?

Hi, yeah, I've seen that, but to me it seems McCartney is using his thumb to pluck and not so much to fret. He does that very well though, I sang in a band once with a bassist who did that and it sounded terrible :hmm: kirkdickinson, I use it over the top of the neck and sort of pivot it to...

    Fretting...With thumb?

Well I mean I'll probably continue this for just a little bit but not for too long, I don't want it to stick

    Fretting...With thumb?

What I've been thinking about is learning traditional fingering so that I'm fluent in it and know how to do it better, and then if I still feel like doing thumb, including that as well?

    Fretting...With thumb?

    Thanks, I'll definitely try that

    Fretting...With thumb?

Thanks, any suggestions as to exercises, etc. to practice using my fingers exclusively?

    Fretting...With thumb?

I've been playing bass for five or six months now, teaching myself, though I plan to take lessons soon. And due to heavy practicing, I think I've gotten pretty good. But since I started, I've been fretting notes with not just my fingers, but a whole lot with my thumb too. People tell me that...

    Melvins-Queen tab request

I can't find any tabs for the song, if anyone could tab it out for me that would be great. Sounds not too hard to figure out but then I'm a beginner.

    I'm a one string bassist

Lastly, I want to thank virtuosity-fueled jazz and funk fusion for showing me the errors of my ways and the power of love

    I'm a one string bassist

That aside, what was there to learn? Nothing, it's extremely, extremely easy. Maybe something in my subconscious kept me from realizing that in the first place.

    I'm a one string bassist

No, I think I'm good and will probably remember it forever. I've learned my lesson. I met a bassist today with some limitations himself (Couldn't play with more then one finger, didn't know the string names) and totally understand why you guys were frustrated with me.

    I'm a one string bassist

This thread is pretty much pointless considering I've gotten over my limitation, so I'd like to delete it. Who are the moderators?
