    Hoshino Gakki ?

You're welcome, glad to help! I bought mine because it came in an old Peavey chainsaw case that I needed for a Foundation. The bass was trashed and was kinda an afterthought, but once I cleaned it up and got it playable I was surprised how good it sounded. Definitely has a unique tone. Bright...

    Hoshino Gakki ?

Looks just like the Cortley bass I rescued. They were imported under other names as well in the late 70s. A lot of info at this site. https://cortleyguitars.tripod.com/Catalog1P6.html

The Official Sterling by Music Man Owners Club

That was my experience as well. New strings made a world of difference. Whatever generic strings ship on those are bloody awful.

NAMM 2025: Sterling by Music Man Bongo, DarkRay & SB14 (aka the Sterling Sterling)

Hard to find an EBMM Sterling to try out locally. SB4 was a fairly inexpensive way to see if I liked the shape. Didn't expect much, but exceeded my expectations. Could care less what the company names things. I care more about playing bass.

NAMM 2025: Sterling by Music Man Bongo, DarkRay & SB14 (aka the Sterling Sterling)

I have the cobra blue SB4. - Volume/Treble/Bass - 1.5" at the nut. Plays and sounds great. Hot preamp.

The Sterling is the Stingrays more reserved little brother. They sound similar, but It's a little easier to tame the high end on a Sterling. There are several good comparisons on YouTube.

The Official Sterling by Music Man Owners Club

Ordered this Christmas Eve when it was the stupid deal of the day for $269.99. Been looking for a MM Sterling for quite a while. Drove an hour and a half about a year ago to buy one that I could actually play first. Talked to one guy at the shop before I left and the other salesman sold it...

Squier Standard Precision (made in Indonesia, 1999-2000)

I have have theLink Removed. Depends on what they are asking. Found mine at Goodwill for around $150 USD, but I don't think they go for more than $250-$300 in good condition. The neck is wonderful and I think it sounds good with the stock pickups. It's a solid bass. I have a Yamaha 734a and a...

Eden WT - Repair, Find Another One, or Find A New Amp

Have a USA made WT-405 that I love, but after dropping almost $200 getting it repaired only to fail again 2 months later I'm done. Played a ton of gigs with it over the years and it's hard to part with, but finally realized it's time to move on. Took a while to find something that pleased my...

Amp Selection - Genz Benz Contour vs Rumble 500

I thought so too. Been looking for one of the 15" extension cabs since I bought it, but they are hard to find in these parts. Fell pretty confident that's about all I would ever need to cover most live situations. The combo alone has been plenty with a loud drummer and guitar in a smaller room.

Amp Selection - Genz Benz Contour vs Rumble 500

I've had both. Picked up a Contour 210 from Marketplace on a whim for $200. The Fender is gone and I won't be parting with the Contour. It can get surprisingly loud.

    Hamer Slammer Series Model Mystery

Hi there, was just looking back at this post for some info and noticed a new comment. It does have a tight spacing for sure and takes some getting used to. I have been working on this thing for a while, trying different pickups and strings. Finally settled on an EMG MJ set with the passive tone...

    Best basses of 1983

Pick this '83 up in a pawn shop in '93. Bright hair metal pink, but sounded great. Especially for $150 with a hard shell case. My first decent, and only bass for many years.
