Squier Standard Precision (made in Indonesia, 1999-2000)

Hi! I'm looking for a second instrument. I play on a 2008 Yamaha BB414 that I like quite a lot and I'd like to have a backup instrument. I was hoping to find a Yamaha BB200 or BB300 (around 300$ CAD on Marketplace) but none shows up these days.

I stumbled upon this Squier Standard Precision today. Its Link Removed. I read that those basses are the ancestors of the actual Classic Vibes and Vintage Modifieds of today. The owners says MIM pickups were installed.

Are these basses worth it? Thanks for your help!

I have have theLink Removed. Depends on what they are asking.
Found mine at Goodwill for around $150 USD, but I don't think they go for more than $250-$300 in good condition.

The neck is wonderful and I think it sounds good with the stock pickups. It's a solid bass.
I have a Yamaha 734a and a BB300 and wouldn't hesitate to play the Squier on a gig if need be.

Yep depending on the price, it’s a solid bass (593) Purple Metallic (2001-2002) Squier Standard P Bass Special (PJ) jazz width neck profile, 1.5 nut.
I have a 1999 played the hell outta it. I payed $50 for it back in the day. I’ve since made it fretless and installed a neck with an unlined ebonol board.

One thing to keep in mind it’s not super mod friendly, after market pick-guards do not fit (screws, pickup position) also the routs are smaller so adding aftermarket pickups the routs need a shave on either end. I like the pick ups
so mine stayed stock but I did upgrade the wiring and installed new full size CTS pots. Good luck!
