    Show Your Pandemic Mods

I had my guitar guy work on a few instruments like my 12-string guitar and stuff like that during the pandemic, but when the pandemic really set in and I was stuck at home all the time, I took it upon myself to take my Squire VM Jag that's been my main bass at punk shows since about 2012 and do...

Caught him messing with the peg on my E string.

    The Rickenbacker Club Part Twelve

Yeah, I def feel like the silver tops have more of a vintage feel imo. The black ones just don't scream ric to me. Makes sense, since as you say, the silvers have been in use since '65! Perfect timing for my purchase, I guess, I got the good knobs *and* the new bridge!

Are the vintage knobs the black ones I'm seeing on sweetwater's current 4003? Happy mine is a March 2020 model if so, as I like the silver-topped ones better!

I only jest. It was a reference to what fans of the band say about them. I love a good smashing of a guitar. Dug it when Phoebe Bridgers did it on SNL a few weeks back, too!

The only instrument smash that matters.

Dude doesn't really seem to get Rics, but I can't help but find his videos entertaining. I've always had a soft spot for curmudgeons, even if they are completely misguided.

Love that acoustic, that is one lucky find!

    Rickenbacker stereotypes ??

Ngl, I love my Ric but that video turned me into a big fan of Dave. Dude's a riot.

The rollers on the saddles can move around with restringing. I'm really glad I held out for the V2 bridge, but if I really wanted to stretch for a complaint that would probably be it. Confused the hell out of me when my string spacing was all messed up the first time I put new strings on it.

As another long-time reader/infrequent poster to another, let me be the first to say: those are some gorgeous rics! Sorry to hear the Ruby hasn't quite worked out. I hope you don't give up on it though, because it's a beauty!

They Used To Tell Me All Squiers Suck? Is This True?

Man, those slightly older vintage modified jags were something else. They are such a hidden gem! Mine has been with me since 2012 and played countless shows. And while I just bought a Ric for it's trademark growl, I still find myself picking up the squire when I need to be extra nasty. They...

FWIW, the picture you snapped which prompted this discussion actually has me considering buying the book when I wasn't really interested in it prior...despite having heard a fair amount about it. Props for not including the picture of the bass, you always gotta keep 'em wanting for more!

It was starting to seem like every new ric that was posted here had him asking them to take off the bridge or warnings of paint bubbling. Like, christ dude. You're problems are your own, don't ruin NBD for everyone else.

Ooh, I've been looking for a good and trustworthy place in Portland that knows their way around the quirks of a Rickenbacker. Might be time to finally check them out.
