Rickenbacker stereotypes ??

I have two RICs, a 4001 and a 4003. I also have three P-Basses. I grew up, music wise, 50 years ago. So ergonomics were not even a thought. You just adapted and adjusted to your bass. Never had a problem with any of my basses, and the 4001 and my 78 P-bass were abused in the day. Still, I enjoy all my basses. Do I have a preference, nope. I just pick up one that suits the song I want to play. And yes, even though it's a stereotype, I have flats on my P-basses and RotoSounds on my RICs. If you have the money and are GAS'ing for a certain bass, buy it.

I've never heard that before. And there's nothing wrong with rickenbacker, except all the flaws that make them a rickenbacker. They really just need to make basses with standard bridges, no pickup cover that limit you from adjusting your strings, standard/decent tuners, and a single easily adjustable fully functional truss rod like every other bass guitar in oroduction. Everyone would have one. Price tag staying the same or even a little more.

Yep , Rickenbackers are a stereo type bass.
One of the few in production.

I thought "you must like Thunderbirds" would be worse. Wait, so it seems that I like Thunderbirds myself? Nevermind, then. ;)
My stereotype (no pun intended) towards Rics was that I thought the treble pickup of the Ric-o-Sound was intended to be overdriven and the rhythm pickup to be clean. It was quite a revelation to me that Chris Squire used the rhythm pickup for fuzz and treble for clean. AND that he used his fuzz after a split, which must have contained a buffer. :nailbiting:
