Are speakers louder once they are in cabs

Yeah, but i like the older stuff, I own a T-40 and I have family who owns Peavey 400 series amp head, a mid 70's peavey 15'' and an peavey 118fh, not to mention a 2 huge 3 tier EV stacks which include 4 18s 6 15s and several horns, all of which are passe' but I still love them. Another thing...

Are speakers louder once they are in cabs

i built the cab to the specifications that i stated and so far it sounds really good, it was 25X21X23.5 and the front was to 21X21 so there is a 4'' gap and a ran a peice thats 21X16 at the top of the gap. I used mbf so i guess i lucked out because it sounds great

Are speakers louder once they are in cabs

yeah, i found out what dimensions modern day Cerwin vegas uses 25 " x 21 " x 23.5 " so i'm going to go with that, i think thats pretty much what most 18'' cabs use so i'm going to hope for the best

Are speakers louder once they are in cabs

Yeah, i did put it up to full blast, it didn't make any crackling or any bad noises otherwise i would have stop, I do feel like an idiot for it but i bought the speaker untested and was not sure till now if it even worked. I'm new to amps, up till now i've had to barrow a half stack to do shows...

Are speakers louder once they are in cabs

I have a cerwin vega 18'' and i know they are loud when in a cab, but mine is loose, I'm waiting on the wood to build a cab. I hooked it up to my new head (my first bass head) it's a Marshall MB series B450H and it wasn't that loud on full blast. Is my speaker crap or my head, OR are speakers...

Will standard plywood work good in a big bass cab?

Thanks for all of your help. I think I'll be able to do it a bit better than half-a**ed. About moving it once it's build though the original one i am basing it off of has wheels on the back, even so I would still like to be able to move it without worry

Will standard plywood work good in a big bass cab?

It does call for 1'' plywood because it's housing an 18'' cerwin vega and being a mounted in backwardes it would cause a lot of pressure. That and the old cab I am basing this off of has 1'' walls. I'm going to go ahead and build it out of good generic plywood and if i don't like it at least I...

Will standard plywood work good in a big bass cab?

I know you are supposed to use baltic birch but I really can't afford it. I am making a folded horn with an 18'' cerwin vega 187 in it. Would standard ply wood that is an inch thick be able to hold without excessive vibration.
