    Too much volume when bowing vs. pizzacato

    What can I use to knock down the volume when switching from pizzacato to bowing? I've got a compressor but the problem with it is; it releases built up voltage when switching on and results in a loud pop in the sound system.

    Trying to determine the value of these two basses. Circa 1950 German made student bass and Serial #204 King Bass Cleveland OH 1935-36. Both have neck repairs but are solid and both set up professionally.
