    How to “cross-post.”

Do we still cross-post classifieds when relevant? Like if there seems to be a good reason to list an item in both BG and DB-related classified categories? Or if a “pedal” is also really a “preamp?” If so, HOW does one accomplish this feat? I can’t seem to find the way. Thanks, Mark

    Live back or dead back?

Here's a simple way to experience what the back the back of your bass may be doing: While playing your bass, press your knee or as much of your leg as you can into/on to the back to "mute" it. The sound definitely changes. Check it out!

    NAD : Quilter V803

Sounds like the "modern" setting would be useful for double bass gigs with a dedicated preamp (e.g., Grace Felix) or tonedexter feeding the input, and the other two modes would provide a nice palette of "voiced" options for electric bass gigs. Color me interested.

32” vs 34” scale for precision bass

    A) 32” basses are great. I assembled one (J style) with warmoth parts a little over a year ago and I use it all the time. I’ve played 34 and 30 a lot and 32 does feel like a Goldilocks scale for me. B) the “reachy” nature of the 34” P is also a result of all the space behind the bridge (or...

    Beating/Warbling tone

If that high F# is "warbling" on its own, than yes, like others have said, the pickup may be "pulling" on the string and making it sound kind of chorus-y. However, in your specific example (playing open D with that high F# to create a major tenth), that is just a natural side effect of equal...

    Non-temperamental germanium boost/drive?

I used to own a Phat Phuck with the internal bias control. I liked the pedal a lot but I sold it partly because the internal control meant too much fiddling when using different basses. If you already have the one with external bias, it may be worth the hassle to just keep it. I doubt anything...

Re: intonation. Open string and 12th fret harmonic match, 12th fret fretted does not

Except that string tension will affect the neck relief, which will affect all aspects of the setup including the intonation. You should check intonation and all setup parameters in the tuning you plan to use on the bass.

    Optical Compressors with blend control.

There is one Photon Death Ray on reverb right now. I have one, also the DLA-2A. Both are great.

    Sire V7 (active) NOISY?

Yeah, calling them is a good idea. That’s what they are there for right? I also hardly ever buy new gear so I forget :-)

    Sire V7 (active) NOISY?

I am starting a question thread for the first time here! I recently got a Sire V7 fretless from sweetwater (exclusive “sandblasted” model) and it’s a hell of a bass for the money. The problem is that it’s the noisiest bass I’ve ever had. Not bad at home, but in clubs under lights and whatnot...

    Terminology debate

The umbrage seems unwarranted since in this case it wast just a terminology issue as you state. But to my ear I would agree with ones who have the sense that "project" feels experimental or temporary while "band" feels more permanent or flag-in-the-dirt-ish. I'm 44. Not young. Not old. Planning...

    Official GR Bass Club

Ric, Funny to see this post today. I was just thinking about this amp yesterday. I sold it (to you) because I'm addicted to Felix for DB. But this was pretty close and SO awesome as a grab-and-go.
