Anyone using a Groove head? What are your impressions?
I just acquired a GROOVE 800 about a week ago. I love it! I have owned a ONE 800 for about 3 months now, which I like as well. However, I like the tubey character of the GROOVE 800 even more. The GROOVE 800 is currently my favorite amp…and I own 7 amps.

I'd love to try one, but since mine are all 800 Combos or ACTs, I don't really see the point. A tube preamp pedal ahead of any of those would be cool to try out, but a Microbass 3 or Megellan is working out great so far. Hey @bassbooty , wanna compare a few of those other heads to the Groove for us?

Below is a link to the video for an original song I recorded with my Warwick Streamer Stage I direct out from my Demeter VTBP-201-800D to give you a sample of the tone I go for. I like the GROOVE 800 even more.

Rich Wyman & Lisa Needham ~ Forgiveness

Oh...yeah. Love everything about that...well done! Just the right amount of grunt going on in the bass too.

Notice no one is sharing much about the Groove heads. Anyways, I’ve just bought the groove 1200 to pair with my 212 slim as my Aguilar DB 750 rig was getting a bit much for my back. I also own a TH700 which will remain my backup head. The Groove 1200 certainly sounded nicer though the 212 Slim when I AB’d it with the TH700 at my last gig, though in saying that the TH 700 also sounded pretty sublime through an Aguilar SL410 when I previously used it at other shows I had done in the past.
Anyways, just my two cents worth

Yep I was after one of these but they were unavailable so I got the Groove 1200 instead have played one gig with it and it sounded massive through my 212 slim running the master at about 9 o’clock

Hey gang, I'm strongly considering a 110-350 ACT for double bass. I have a preamp I'm happy with (fishman platinum pro), and this would replace some GK gear I'm not 100% thrilled with (mb200/neo112). Smaller, simpler, lighter, flatter, and more powerful (not that I need more power).

I've only heard good stuff, but is there anything I should be concerned with? My use case is stage monitoring for an all acoustic Americana act, with a sensitive drummer. I almost always go DI to the mains.

I've also considered the 12" and also the 12" acoustic combo with its 2-channel pre. I think both of these are more than I need.

I look forward to everybody's thoughts, especially those who use GR gear with DB.

Funny enough, I was in the same spot about two months ago, thinking about the 110ACT, but I ended up going with the NF110. Mainly because I like being able to tweak EQ on the fly during a gig, while still sending the same signal to FOH as at soundcheck.

Also… not gonna lie, the Natural Fiber just looks really classy with a double bass.

Right now my whole setup (Eich T-300, Felix, cables, iPad, etc.) fits into a Millenium Cajon bag, and it’s still lighter than the old GK 200MB combo I used before for DB gigs.

Haven’t tried it with electric bass yet though.

Hey GR friends, trying to make a decision here.

I have a AT112 Cube 800, and was considering buying an additional AT112 extension cab so I would have 2x12’s at the full 800 watts.

However, I was tempted with a 800 watt 2x12 Slim Combo….

In the end it would cost about the same money to keep my current cube, and buy the extension cab, or trade my cube towards the new combo.

Really unsure what to do to be honest.

I use a 110 and the minione 350w head, which I assume would be essentially the same thing. I like it with a pre, something with a hpf maybe -overall the GR gear is very transparent. Depending the gig though, I will add an extension 110 cab, especially if I'm not going through FOH - so maybe something to consider depending your needs/venue etc. However, with a light drummer & FOH support I imagine you should be fine for most scenarios - I used the 110/350 combo for a big band the other night and it was plenty against full horn section, rhythm section etc. Personally I am preferring the 10's for upright over the GR12's (I also have, my favorite combo was a Bergantino 112 w/ Aguilar head, very different to the GR combo). I also run a Yamaha DBR110 powered monitor, and that's a great portable set up for double also, fairly similar to the GR 110 rig. Good luck!

I have a 212 800 ACT but really appreciate the 800 Cube. Compact, great sounding. I would add a 112 or 212+. I happened on a fantastic deal on the 212ACT first, so that's why I have it. If it happened that I got the Cube first, I probably would have added a 112 and skip the 212 ACT.

I was in a similar situation, ended up getting the 112 cube as an extension cabinet. It adds a bit of flexibility as I can use the cube combo on it's own or with the second 112 depending on the room. I like that I can place the extension cabinet wherever I need to also in cases when side by side works better.
In addition, I found a used One 800 head so now I can have one setup at the rehearsal space and one at home.
With all that said, I imagine a AT212+ might get some benefits from the increased cabinet volume (size), not sure if that matters much in real world use though. I was never able to compare a single 212 vs 2x 112's, but it would be interesting.

What a brilliant idea with the Millenium Cajon Bag! Thank you!

I couldn't think of anything suitable to safely transport my AT110. This covers all my needs. The bag holds the cab, amp and pedal along with all the necessary cables and small stuff. The cab stand can be attached to the handle. One-trip rig.
