Totally get that. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Hero 7 at all. Used a Hero 4 and a cheap Amazon knockoff for a long time and got plenty of good video.

If you can find the extra cash in your budget, I'd go ahead and pick up the Hero 9. We've been using one to record rehearsals and our live sets and have liked the sound a lot. Video is going to be pretty solid with any newer GoPro, but to me the sound in the Hero 9 is what sets it apart.
