    250 vs 500 Pots

For volume controls, usually the difference isn't all that huge. 500K can give you slightly more high end and output, but 250K tend to turn own better. In a Jazz Bass the difference could be more noticeable, since they're wired parallel, so 500K actually looks more like 250K, and 250K looks like...

    Death From Above 1979 toanz

Went back and listened to it, and yeah, I think I was wrong about that. My bad. :hiding:

    Death From Above 1979 toanz

I think the chorus pedal was just for splitting. The Wah was used in the song Romantic Rights, and probably some others. I'd have to go back and listen for it (I tend to not listen to music searching for effect use). He's said he hates tube amps in early interviews, because they sounded...

    Death From Above 1979 toanz

I believe it's a Peavey F-800B, and Acoustic 450, both into Traynor 8x10s (old ones) that have PA speakers in them (... which are basically bass speakers). The sound comes from having two different distortions. JFK says pedals just don't sound as good as amps, so he just uses the amps...

    Normally On Momentary Switch Pedal?

It'd be way easy to build, if you're interested in that sorta thing. Literally an enclosure, two jacks, and a switch.

fixing a guitar pedal for bass

The Zakk OD is a tubescreamer-based pedal. You can give it more overall low end by finding the 183 capacitor (18nF, .018uF) and replacing it with something along the lines of 100nF (.1uF) cap. Clean blend would also work, but I prefer if clean blends can roll off high end so the natural...

    Current Affairs - Power

Haha! I get it! CURRENT affairs! Sounds a bit complicated, but it should work. I'd probably go with something simpler (and cheaper), but, I'm cheap.

"Tone Suck" -- Real? Imaginary? Misattribution?

Tone suck is a fairly simple matter but has lots of causes, and it really depends on the individual circuitry of a pedal. Most buffered pedals (Boss, Ibanez, DOD) use bipolar junction transistors for their buffer circuit. Transistor buffers of any kind are going to have a gain of slightly...

    Simulating a "trumpet" sound...

Huh... Well, fuzz would help by compressing the signal. And probably some sort of attack suppressor, swell pedal, etc before it. Otherwise, I have no idea. You're weird.

    The Perfect Tubescreamer Bass Mod

Basically, compared to a TS10. It has some extra bypass circuitry compared with a TS-9 or TS-808, but that's not going to be horribly significant, and is really probably a good thing.

    The Perfect Tubescreamer Bass Mod

That capacitor is basically the difference in the Ibanez Metal Screamer. It's .082uF, which probably still isn't high enough, but it's a little better.

What exactly does a speaker simulator do?

Clearly, your experience didn't notice all the bassists with Ampeg 8x10s. :p But, yeah, it's basically fancy EQ. Simulates the frequency response of a given cab (already been said). Most things that don't fall under some other effect are basically fancy EQs, though.

    Fuzz that cuts low end?

Do you know how to wield a soldering iron? If so, you can just replace one capacitor in most circuits to cut the low end. Also, the Boss DS-1 has a tone stack that cuts low end as it's turned up. They're way cheap, and pretty cool. Big Muffs have similar tone stacks, of course (but it seems...

fuzz pedal that keeps low end yet has some bite?

Actually, yeah. Big Muffs generally block the lowest lows from ever being clipped, which is why they make for good bass fuzzes. The Russian ones block more lows from being clipped, on top of having less gain in general, hence why they're so popular for bass. The tone controls in most Muffs are a...

The Shameless "I have spent $x on my pedalboard" thread.

... this thread hurts my feelings. I don't have any pedals at all. : /
