Should I get a new head or cabs 1st?

I got the bass I want. Now I need to get a new amp. I have a Randall 200 watt 4-10 combo that will get me through until I can get something new. I pulled the amp (rack mountable) out and put into a rack case to keep the weight down. I use it as a head and 4-10 cab. I need to save up some $, but...

    NBD :)

Picked up a 5 string Peavey Millennium AC BXP for a song :woot: I used it at a 3+ hour jam session yesterday and love it! It has a small neck, which is good for me since I have small fingers and it is nice and light.

Ibanez Artcore SS 5 string bass

I am considering purchasing an Ibanez AGB205 short scall 5 string bass, but before I pull the trigger I would like to know if anyone knows if there are faltwound, 5 string sets in short scale? So far I have not been able to find any. I guess one option would be to build a set using indivudual...

    Fender Rumble Club

I am considering buying a Rumble 500 amp head. I plan to run it with a 4-10 cabinet that I already own until I have enough money for new lighter cabinets. I am thinking of either two 1-12 cabs or two 2-10 cabs. Has anyone used the 1-12 cabinets yet, as they are new? I know some of you have the...

    Bad set of strings?

I have D'Addarrio flat wounds (tuned B E A D) on my 4 string and they sound awsome. I just had the strings on my 5er changed. I switched from the round owunds that were on it when I bought it to D'Addarrio Half-Rounds. I went with the Half-Rounds to give me the flat wound feel, but a slightly...

    Open Notes

I started out on guitar and when I started playing bass I loved the open E & A strings. I think that is because on a guitar, IMO, the open strings sound better. Since I got my 5er, I have noticed that now I tend to play fretted E & A at the 5th fret. I have found that the 5th fret area of the...

    Strings for BEAD

I guess I should have posted this under the "Strings" forum. Is there a way to move it?

    Strings for BEAD

I want to tune my 4 string to BEAD and went to bassstringsonline.com to get some strings. My thought was to make up my own set. However, I found that it was cheaper to buy a 5 string set and not use the G string than to make up my own BEAD set. Do any companies make a BEAD set?

Can a short scale bass be tuned BEAD?

At this time I do not have the short scale bass yet. My 4 string has Super Light Guage strings and my 5er has regular lights on it. Would you recomend using mediums on the short scale?

Can a short scale bass be tuned BEAD?

I have a 34" scale 4 and 5 string basses but I really want a short scale bass. I was wondering can a short scale bass be tuned BEAD, which would eliminate the need for a 5 string, or would the scale be too short for a low B string? BTW, I like to use flats. I have heard people talking about...

Clue me in about short scales

Does anyone have a short scale 5 string or tune a short scale BEAD? I would like to know if it can be done.

    Amp question and advice requested

I am not sure about louder, but easier to hear may be more accurate. A friend has 2 Aguilar 1-12 cabs and they sound great, which has led me to really like 12's.

    Amp question and advice requested

Good thoughts, but the Randall Amp is basically a head that is mounted inside the cabinet. It can easily be removed and mounted into a rack case. the combo speakers plug into it using a 1/4 inch cord and can be unplugged completly. My thought is to decided which amp and speaker combination I...

    Amp question and advice requested

I currently have a Randall RB200 combo with 4 10s in it. It is ok and has gotten me this far, but I want some better and easier to move. I am looking to get a new light weight amp and 2 speakers. My first question: I am thinking about 500 watts for the amp and was wondering whether I should go...

Thanks for the help. It seems better with the better tuner.
