I've been playing Vigier basses for about three years now. a five string Excess and a four string iMetal fretless Arpege. Love them both. The Vigiers are a wonderful family as well. If you can make it to NAMM I highly recommend visiting their booth.

I tried out a Squire vintage modified jazz ($300) next to a Geddy Lee Signature jazz ($1500). In that test I actually preferred the Squire. I would probably upgrade the electronics but other than that it was perfect.
