What's your rig of choice for this weekend? Part 2.

I'm going into the studio on Monday for a week, and have to fly in without any of my gear so I backlined the essentials: Aguilar DB751 Ampeg 8x10 Fender Hotrod Deluxe mk1 Dunlop105q MXR Bass Octave Deluxe Wayhuge SupaPuss MXR Phase 90 Luckily I have access to a Blast Cult 145. Thinking I...

Double Bass Is leaving my bass under a fan dangerous?

I'd say you'll be just fine. Humidifier is saving you from any of the room temperature dangers. The problems arise when temperatures suddenly and drastically change.

Double Bass Miles Mosley plays a Blast Cult DB, Winter NAMM 2012

Love youtube and what it's done for the exposure of artists over the years, but I'd say for us bass players the mobile media devices of today, and the internet playback, and upload mediums don't exactly flatter us from a low end perspective. I hope to release some things this year that'll...

Double Bass Bass Player Live - Miles Mosley on Upright...

Well, to be exact I toured with Jonathan Davis (the frontman for KORN) Doing his solo project. Stage volume wasn't dangerous :) Loud yes, but these days it's WAY louder in the audience than it is on stage. I don't use ear protection generally speaking. I'm usually the MD on my touring gigs and...

Double Bass Bass Player Live - Miles Mosley on Upright...

To those of you who enjoyed the brief soundcheck clip, I'd like to give you the link to 7 videos I posted about the different effects I use. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] it is. Many of you here share my enthusiasm for opening and embellishing on new ideas and concepts for the upright...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

Hey friends, I was recently interviewed on Notreble.com, it is now avaible to read on their site. Since the site is a bassist focused site I was able to zero in on a lot of the subjects we've been discussing in this thread. I hope you all enjoy it and that it can spark some new ideas into...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

I'd have to respectfully disagree with that. On the one hand, yes, the efforts to eliminate feed back do reduce the acoustic value of the instrument to null. However, being the owner of EUB's and having used them on records and tours I will say that Bow work, and tone are significantly different...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

I'm currently planning my National and international tours for the year, Northern California is always a planned stop, especially for the wine country :) Thanks for asking, I'll be updating the site with the tour dates as soon as they're solid! Respectfully, Miles Mosley

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

Though I'm not sure that this particular item moves to the reinvention of the upright, I will say that it could save all of our backs a hell of a lot of strain. The Invalid Link Removed This thing weighs 3.8 pounds and can be infinitely daisy chained to as many of it's similarly weighted 400...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

Keep in mind Jimmy that my focus is on pizz and arco. So if gut strings gets th job done from a slap bass perspective, I would not be the authority on that, and would welcome others to chime in to help our fellow brother decide. But like you said man, go get the dough. If the artist you are...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

JimmyM, Steel strings is the no-brainer only way to go in my book. The days of the practical use of gut strings are long gone. They beauty and warmth that they project (which they do well) is rarely even decipherable these days. Now, I hate to have to preface this but it seems necessary...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

I'm currently traveling through South America at the moment, I'll begin chipping away at the feedback post asap! I know it's what plagues us most, however the answer is not short, and is gonna require a whole heck of a lot of typing, to get the whole host of options clear. :) In any case...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

Hmm, the first thing I noticed most, that helped with that situation is recognizing that what I'm trying translate to the audience is the CHARACTER of the upright, not the actual acoustic tone. So the sound coming out of the bass is rendered useless, because no one is gonna be able to hear it...

Double Bass The Re-invention of the Upright Bass

I am absolutely interested in a dialogue. I don't think I have accumulated enough answers to "school" anyone. I'm simply trying to provide the most concise responses without flooding the forums. Is there a particular question you think I've responded to incorrectly uncle toad? As far as your...
