Welp, I figured it out. It is the 9v connection. I finally managed to wiggle it enough to get a little sound. Now I just need to take it in to get replaced. So glad I know what's wrong, and thanks so mush for all your guys' help!

Yup, I do have a volmeter. Should I start at the leads to the jack, and work my way back to the pickup, or start with the pickup and work my way towards the jack from the pickup? No good techs down here, closest I know of other than music-go-round/guitar center is in PA.

Thanks psp. Is anyone seeing a difference? Im not seeing anything. The fact that my knobs are so loose is worrisome, though. Even if it's not the problem, and i usually keep them cranked, it just seems...off, you know?

Hey psp, what are the pots on yours like? Mine are super loose, looser than any other bass I've ever played, so I was wondering if that was typical.

Alright, so i tried that, and no dice. I would get a little feedback, but no sound. Also, took off the battery, and put my thumb over both sides of the 9v connector, and was gettingm feedback. Not sure if it's a correct conclusion, but tp me, that indicates that the connection is sound. Am I off...

No doubt, and for $188.93 shipped it seems like a killer deal. I'm pumped for my first 5 string. Does anyone know an approximate value on these? I checked ebay and the like, but couldn't find this specific version of the XB-500. They all seemed to have jazz p'ups instead of the soapbars.
