I was reading about it. The combo seems to have more punch (max 1kW) but they went back to passive crossovers. And they added a midrange driver so it's a 3-way speaker now. Sad when you buy stuff and 2 weeks later it's "old". I'm happy anyway, the sound is cool - I mean warm which is cool...

Mhh regarding the hissing... Mine does. But just when your ear is on axis or close to that with the tweeter. As long as it stands on the floor it hisses to you knees, which usually don't complain.

Sometimes it's the rig - unless you invest in a power soak, which would help a lot. The Boogies I used all had the same issue: Master Volume loudness jumps. In the area of 0-2 it's too soft to even hear it and it sounds also weak. Then, somewhere between 2 and 3 it makes a huuuge jump in volume...

Gain at 2 o'clock with a passive bass? I got some issue being able to set my gain max at 2 (alike #2) for no input clipping with my MM Stingray, and that's my bass with the lower output.

Late answer - I know - but I tried out both intensively this week. Ended up with the AC combo in my pocket. Both are really good not hissing combos, but I am sensitive about highs. The AC has a supposedly hornless or minimum horn size compression driver and therefore has very fine never annoying...

I guess it's much too late now and I seriously hope you didn't try it... The Alain Caron Combo has 2 Amps and an active crossover. Therefore the cab cable looks a bit weird and will be a 4 pole connector. If it would fit (dunno if they are protected by design) into a 2 connector socket your...

Isn't it all about coloration in the mids the different sized speakers do? For some the 15" is just the thing they love, smaller size different breakup and stuff... Improve alsomthe punch in the face sound of an amped 810 - just OnSong want to carry it ;) I justnplay a small sized 12 long throw...
