    Double Bass laborie endpin

ok, that seems practical, and i guess the drilled hole doesn't effect your bass in anyway when you use the regular endpin, right?

    Double Bass laborie endpin

I'm really interested in trying the laborie endpin after seing some students from london using it. My problem is I have only one bass that use for orchestra, solo and jazz. Have any of you tried the laborie endpin in the orchestra or playing jazz/folk/pop music. Can you sit down with it in...

Double Bass good solopieces for intermediate students?

Hey! I have recently taken over a student who's fifteen years old and who plays really nicely in the orchestra. Just now she's playing beethvens third symphony and mozart's pianoconcerto in d-minor with the orchestra. Now I wan't to nominate her for a scholarship but then I need to put her in...

Double Bass 1-3-4 vs 1-2-4 with beginners

I'm especially interested in the benefits of the 1,3,4 system. I'm all for an open approach to fingering technique and I feel that technique in general is always a very personal thing but I'm not experienced with the 1,3,4 fingering so I'm not sure why you would want to use it.

Double Bass 1-3-4 vs 1-2-4 with beginners

His reason is probably that the 1-3-4 variant is the only one he's learned and uses. But even if you try different fingerings, which I agree you should, I feel that the 1-2-4 probably is the best one to start with.

Double Bass 1-3-4 vs 1-2-4 with beginners

It means that they use fingers 1, 3 and 4 on the left hand where I would use fingers 1, 2 and 4 instead, For example in the first position on the d-string they will use finger 1 for e, finger 3 for F and finger 4 for F#. To me it seems a bit akward

Double Bass 1-3-4 vs 1-2-4 with beginners

I have recently taken over a bunch of students from an older teacher and I discovered that they all rely on the 1-3-4 fingering technique instead of the more common 1-2-4. After doing some research I can't see how they would benefit from this technique, especially since they have smaller hands...

    Problems with the neckfinish

I recently bought a nice Fender jazzbass American standard series from 2003. It was affordable, sounds great and has no dents or scratches so I'm happy with that. However, the finish that goes around the back of the neck seems to peel off slightly around the edges. Anyone had the same problem...
