    Fender Player plus

I’ve got a player plus Jazz Bass and a Professional 2 jazz bass. They are both great, but the Active preamp in the plus produces oversaturated bass even if you roll it off. I’ve converted mine to passive only now and a far better more controllable sound and a bit lighter (no batteries). I didn’t...

Dumbest thing you ever did with a bass

Naked off the top board with my 72 P Bass round my neck way past midnight and cheered on by my band and the others I was on tour with. 2 days later I used the bass in a show, no problems it was bombproof!

How many frets do *you* need on your 4-string?

I used to play Fenders 20 frets, but in one band we covered a RHCP (by the way) song that required 24 frets, so I’ve been playing Sandbergs since then.

    2x12 or 4x10

I now use a 212, mines a 4ohm and it's plenty load enough (and sounds great), I sometimes match it with a Marcus Miller 500 but I get a better sound out of my GK Legacy 500.

    Basses shipping without batteries?

Bit of an update, the Treble pot doesn’t work and there is no passive push pull volume knob, according to Sandberg there should be. I’ve just looked at the electrics and it doesn’t look right (not normal Sandberg quality). Photos attached, what do you guys think?

    Basses shipping without batteries?

Thanks, I think it’s Marcus’s usual ********, I’ve bought 5 active basses from him and all the other 4 came with batteries.

    Basses shipping without batteries?

Bought a few basses over the last month (Chronic GAS sufferer), last 3 were shipped with a battery (all active), from the likes of Thomann, Andertons and GuitarGuitar. Bought an Active Sandberg from Bass Direct (new) and they shipped it without a battery, they didn't tell me. When I pointed it...

    Blackstar Unity v Fender Rumble

I think its unfair the compare 250 watts with 350 (500 rumble without extension cab). In percentage terms that's a big increase. But I can tell you that the Blackstar 500 will blow the Rumble 500 away. That's because it's full 500 watts. I've owned both, both are good but the Blackstar has far...

Are higher priced Fenders really worth it?

Yes, I think they are in the main; but sometimes they aren't as good as they should be. The 2014-16 American standards were gems, with customer shop 60's pick ups. Arguably better than the Fender Professional with the V-Mod pickups. I'd take the 2010- 2016 American Deluxes over the Elites based...

Help: Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass Issue

Just start with replacing the Jack switch that's most likely to be faulty and is the cheapest to replace, Not going to be a pot as someone said earlier in a jazz you will get sound from 1 pickup regardless.

Fender Precision Bass Player or (MIM) Standard

Definitely, the Pick Up in the Player is great. I decided to (must have been drunk) replace the pick up with a 60s Custom shop pick up. Had to change it back, the Player pickups has more mid range punch.
