I do believe it's a mystery solved. Now that I've strapped a couple of these short Legends onto my SG bass they even have the same feel. Both are different from the new long scale Legends I was comparing the previously mysterious yellows to, though the new Legends don't sound bad. Just different.

Interesting read. And that does strengthen the Legend argument. I remembered that I had a set of short scale Legends somewhere and was finally able to locate them this morning to compare the silks. They're a match to the mystery strings (Legend shorty at the bottom) So it's looking like my new...

Thanks for the visuals. That's interesting. I was thinking my new set of Legends looked quite a bit like chromes, and they certainly resemble the chromes more in this pic.

That's currently my working theory. These sets could be a decade or more apart.

Greetings. First post for a longtime lurker. I'm usually able to work the search button to answer any and all questions, but hours of wading through the string silk posts hasn't solved this one. I'm not sure which bass these came on, but they were no doubt immediately switched out for chromes...
