    Muse Bass Covers

My latest cover is now out, Survival. This is one I've wanted to do for a while, especially since Mixing With The Masters released the isolated bass track. I was always curious whether Chris used a Big Muff or a Woolly Mammoth on the song. It turns out it was just the Big Muff. What do you...

    Muse Bass Covers

I'll take it, lol. Tbh, the chorus gets me more than the verse. I learnt long ago, crank up your amp, and you can it play softer, helping maintain tone consistency.

Those 16th notes can be killer, for sure, especially if you don't practice it often. I appreciate the Yung' Un's comment 😂 even if I am nearly pushing 40 now. I'm glad you like the covers

Now, that's a complicated bass sound. I might try and capture that tone with my Future Impact. We'll see, as I suspect that will need a lot of work to figure out.

    Muse Bass Covers

I need to re-do my cover, as I got the main riff slightly wrong. Plus, it'll give me another excuse to try and recapture the tone from the album.

    Muse Bass Covers

Hi all, I've been a Muse fan since around 2004/2005. A few years ago I recorded a cover of Hysteria, trying to recreate the actual recording approach and bass tone as closely as possible: I did a write up, and posted it on this forum too: Muse Hysteria - How to get that Bass tone - Tutorial...

Muse Hysteria - How to get that Bass tone - Tutorial Write up

I know. Some of it is muscle memory. That's how I learnt it decades ago, and I realised it was wrong a while ago, but it's never been an issue for me, so I never bother re-learning it. Also, it kind of helps enforce that the bass in my recording was entirely mine. I'm not using any of original...

Using promo material with fired band member image

Personally, I’d stop using any promotional material that contains the lead singer until you have found a replacement and put something new together. Not from a legal perspective, but because you are using footage and promo material that is not a reflection of the current capability of the band...

Muse Hysteria - How to get that Bass tone - Tutorial Write up

Hi All, A while ago, I did a cover of Muse Hysteria, and I promised a video on how I got the tone. Honestly, I've been putting it off for a while as life got in the way. I thought it would be easier to write about it instead. If you haven't watched the cover yet, you can find it by clicking...

Chris Wolstenholme: The Sticky Ver. 1

It's 4 layers. Clean, Muff through a tube amp sim, Drive pedal, and a basic saw synth. The Hysteria tone is primarily how the saw wave interacts with the muff.

Chris Wolstenholme: The Sticky Ver. 1

I thought I'd post this in here. I've been chasing this tone for the best part of the last 17 years, and during Lockdown, I managed to spend some time experimenting with it. This cover is a mimic of the studio recording. However, the same technique could be applied to live performances...

Muse - Hysteria Bass Cover + Tone Recreation

I've been chasing this tone for the best part of the last 17 years, and during Lockdown, I managed to spend some time experimenting with it. This cover is a mimic of the studio recording. However, the same technique could be applied to live performances, providing you have the right equipment...

Small pedal mixer bass and line level

Do you mean something similar to the boss ls-2?

Chris Wolstenholme: The Sticky Ver. 1

Does anyone know what is going on to get this tone? I’m taking more in regards to eq, rather than what pedal he is using. That’s the type of tone I’ve been chasing for a while but I have no idea how he’s getting it. I’m assuming he’s using his bridge pickup?

Chris Wolstenholme: The Sticky Ver. 1

As far as I’m aware, the line 6 is only ever used for Sunburn, live. It’s the Deep impact that Chris uses for plug in baby. If you haven’t got the FM, and are planning to buy it just for plug in baby, I wouldn’t bother, and focus on getting the Future impact instead. He uses the deep impact more...
