Nic.

I used to be a classical string instrument player for most of my life under the influence of my parents. I didn't really enjoy it, but it gave me a very good foundation in music. Then I discovered rock through Visual Kei bands like Dir En Grey, and then I discovered bass, which is very prominent in Japanese rock. More recently, I've been experimenting with ethnic stuff through a serendipitous encounter, and to ambient new age soundscapes thanks to my girlfriend, and this has been creeping into my music.

My band Sangriento grew out of an X-Japan cover band into a uniquely creepy alternative band. We live on the edge between dark brooding heavy metal riffs and beautifully melancholic atmospheric vocals.

Previously Owned Gear
Previously owned basses: TGM Flying V bass, Fender CIJ Jazz 5
Primary guitar: Squier FSR Vintage Modified Telecaster Thinline (Lake Placid Blue), Japan-only limited edition. The Vintage Modified Thinline is the only production model guitar that's short scale (Gibson style 24.75") AND small radius (7.25"), making it very easy to play complicated chord inversions. G.A.S. List
I want a chambered bass that doesn't feedback, and a bigger Genz Benz amp that would sound like my Shuttle but bigger.
Influences and Teachers
I got into bass covering Japanese rock bands like L'Arc en Ciel. My band used to cover a lot of X Japan and Versailles songs, but our originals sound more like bands like Dir En Grey with guitars like Luna Sea.
Hobbies and Interests
I've been playing around with ethnic percussion and ambient stuff and handpans.
