Flat wounds on a Taylor GS Mini-e Bass?

This might be over 2 years late. But, I installed Kala u-bass flats on my tiny boy. They work spectacularly.

    Joyo DC-15B

I sold my Roland mini cube because I just didn’t care for the sound quality. But, now I’ve found that I still need a battery powered bass amp. So, I bought a Joyo DC-15B. It’s a 15 watt amp as opposed to the Roland 5 watt. It turns out that I really like it. It has several convenient features...

    Nash Mustang Bass Strings

The strings are “through body”. So, medium scale. Thanks for the help. I’ll look again at the Dunlop. I didn’t see those on StringsByMail. Ill look again.

    Nash Mustang Bass Strings

I recently switched out the factory strings on my short scale Nash bass. I put on d’Addario flat wounds. Dang, I wish that I hadn’t switched out the strings to flats. These d’Addario strings have a twang that I find annoying. The Nash website states they use Dunlop strings. But, it doesn’t seem...

    Tiny Boy Basses

I have 4 Basses. - Kala U-Bass, stays in the case. - Taylor mini-E bass acoustic, 23” scale. Conveniently it is the same scale as the TB. I use it when I’m sitting on the couch fooling around. - Nash Short scale 30”. Mostly for group playing with mixed instruments. Guitars, ukuleles...

Indeed they do. I’ve had them on now for 5 months or so. I still love the feel. I think they sound a little flat, no pun intended, on my small battery powered amp. But with my larger amps it sounds great and is nice on the fingers. A couple of photos shows where the silk ends.

    Tiny Boy Basses

Update on the Pyramid Flats. I should have posted this a week ago. I met up with a fellow bassist to show him my issue with gain/volume. Dang, I wasn’t using the gain on my amp correctly. I’m such a hack as a bassist. I turned the volume down and gain up. They sound and feel great!! I’m...

    Tiny Boy Basses

Ok, I just replaced my factory rounds with pyramid 23.5” flats. Nylon core just doesn’t have enough metal to influence the pickups. So, with my Roland 5 watt the volume is lacking. With volume all the way up and gain up 1/4 of the way the distortion is unbearable. And for now I agree the...

    Tiny Boy Basses

oops. I misspoke. I went back in my old emails and found… Kanile’a informed me that Hosco would not recommend using flats on their fretted basses. Then I contacted Hosco. Ken at Hosco said that using the flats on their fretted basses would shorten the life of the strings. These Dugals are made...

    Tiny Boy Basses

.. Yes, indeed. The price difference was quite acceptable. The only thing I’m concerned with now is the difference in string tension. But, Hosco does not recommend installing Dugal flats on their ‘P’ bass. I’m assuming that it’s because of potential tension increase?

    Tiny Boy Basses

I just received and installed the Pyramid 235’s. It cost a bit to have them shipped from Germany. But, they are a perfect fit for my TB. The pickup seems to actually work. I really like how they feel.
