    Richard Cousins

I discovered Richard Cousins while working on the bass line for JL Hookers Mr Lucky; that was just a week ago and I have many miles to go with it. To wit: I really do get the willingness to go to the crossroads and exchange your soul for the ability to play like the best who have ever drawn...

    P Bass Upsides?

That is an eye opening, liberating comment for me. Thank you!

    Flats and various basses

I like the new set of La Bella low tension flats on my SB1 as much as the TI Jazz flats on my Kiloton. I did not like the higher tension and slightly rougher texture of RotoSound 77. I'm guessing you'll like the La Bellas.

Anyone let go of their only P bass?

Turn the P into a PJ? Or is that sacrilege?

    LaBella vs TI

I love the feel and behavior of TI jazz flats but I couldn't justify a second set for my other bass. I can't speak to the DTB version but two days ago I put La Bella low tension flats on my other bass and I couldn't be happier with them. I haven't the long experience of most folks here and so...

small and light cab to pair with trace elliot elf head + elf 1x10?

I'm not experienced, just curious: How much more speaker power do you need? My 2x8 RevSound (V28, V for vertically oriented), is easy to transport and would have about 28% more cone area than your 1x10. If you don't need a whole lot more power maybe something like that would work well. In any...

Bass Theory by John C. Goodman (I love it!)

This above my pay grade but I'll give it a whirl after I get a little better sorted in this general subject area!

Mambo4 & SteveCS.... it will take more than a little plowing for me to adequately understand your responses; please know that I appreciate your efforts and will be working through them. While you guys were typing I found this:Basic Intervals | StudyBass At first blush it ^^ sounds like simply...

Bass Theory by John C. Goodman (I love it!)

Page 64, second paragraph: I'm not clear on the reasons. This is what I perceive, but is any of it correct? The fifth is puzzling me from the get-go. The second, being a whole tone from the tonic, yields a semitone location for flatting the second. The fourth being a halftone from the Third...

Bass Theory by John C. Goodman (I love it!)

Page 61, the bulleted items in the lower portion of the page, I am puzzled: What fundamental characteristic differentiates a major interval from a minor interval? By the definition on page 60, a third having four semitones is major and one having only three is minor. But per page 61 the...

Bass Theory by John C. Goodman (I love it!)

I agree that constent use of established definitions and terminology is, indeed, optimal but does not, on its own, necessarily result in the more general instruction or approach needed. Certainly worth correcting if a 2nd edition is ever produced, I doubt any text written lacks similar sins here...

Bass Theory by John C. Goodman (I love it!)

For months I have not grocked why the 7th degree in a minor scale was considered a flat 7th. My mistake was in observing, and then assuming, that the half-step change relative to the preceding note for each was the reason, hence my perplexity with the 7th; I ignored the issue until just the...

G&L Neck Refinish; Satin if Possible (but not mandatory)

Getting there, two coats down, final coat in couple hours. Couldn't find wipe-on so brush-on water-based clear satin it is but it's limited to the mating surfaces of the neck and pocket; not the whole neck. The graphics on the can match the body finish so I guess it was meant to be. It's funny...
