It just comes down to comfort level. I'm 5'5" and I like 35" scale basses because of the way I tune (Low A E B F# C# G#) on a 6 string. I think it would also depend on how you play. I TOTALLY prefer wide string spacing, which to me, matters more than scale length...

Thanks for asking-I'm looking to really optomizing my EQ's and I'm playing with Frequency splits...it occurred to me (on a vary casual level) to stop just looking at the note/pick ups/etc. and look to how the bass itself responded to what I was doing...I thought it might be useful to consider...
