Hey, I live just across the lake. You know you have to do the traditional When The Saints Go Marching In. House of the Rising Sun is not bad either. I'd stop and listen if I heard them on Bourbon!!

So I'm still fairly new to TB, but I've been a bass player for years. Over the years I've been a part of a couple gigging bands. The first was called "Wake Up Call" (where I got my start :bassist:) and the second was called "Damascus Road". I'm in a band now that plays some covers from the 60's...

Repetition also helps. A lot of the music my band does is blues, so we're generally doing a 1-4-5 chord progression. Knowing that this is the case, I typically come up with a "default" improv and perfect it. Once I have perfected it, I can add and take away depending on the mood of the song.

I have to agree with several here. A better bass does not make you a better player (magically). But do make sure it is properly set up for playing :rollno: For example, I have two bass guitars. My Ibanez Ergodyne has not been properly set up (and wasn't when I got it). So when I attempted to...
