How many Basses Does Everbody bring to a gig?

I bring what I think I'll need for the show, always the Jazz and occasionally the EUB or the active 5 string tenor. I understand the desire to have a back up instrument, for years I always brought a back up bass. Honestly though, things were different then, I was playing an active five string...

What pickups to buy for my jazz bass update??!

I'm a really big fan of Nordstrand NJ4s with the 70s winding personally, I think they sound absolutely stellar.

Do you like covers on your bass?

I've never really had an issue playing around the neck pickup cover on my Jazz, in fact at this point its become an essential part of my technique. I use it as an anchor when I really dig in with my fingers and as a place to anchor my palm/wrist while slapping, I know some would say these are...

What bass made you go passive (or mostly passive) after years of using active eq?

'72 Fender Jazz. Not only brought me back to passives but also brought me back from extended range basses.

Who has gone from more than 4 string back to only 4 strings

This^ If your dead set on a four, why not grab a Sire for cheap and keep the Roscoe too so you don't make a decision you'll end up regretting later.

Who has gone from more than 4 string back to only 4 strings

After years of playing a standard 5 string and a EADGC tuned 5, I switched over to a 4 string a few years ago and never looked back. Sometimes I still pick up the EADGC from and feel like I might be missing the C but when I return to my 4 I find that I really don't need it. Honestly, I think...

When did you become a Jazz Bass guy (gal)?

Man, I hated on Fender and passive basses as a whole for the better part the decade I've been a bassist. It wasn't until I scored an incredible deal ($450) on a '72 Jazz that I realized how wrong I had been. It's been four or five years now and outside of my EUB, I haven't willingly gigged...

What are your favorite strings and why

I have religiously used DR Fat Beams on my '72 Jazz bass since I came across them a few years ago, to me its just THE sound for a Jazz. In fact, at this point I use DR strings on all my basses except my EUB (which still has the strings it came with) and my hollow body Ibanez which sports a set...

The Fender Jazz Bass Club pt 4

Count me in on this, i picked up this about a month ago for $450 (See first picture) and have fixed it up since (See second picture). The serial number, which i don't have on hand, dated it to 72... but i haven't gotten around to tearing the neck off or dating the pots yet. The bridge was moved...
