The Limba bass are gonna made like the American Deluxe P-Bass with a Jazzbass Pickup in the bridge but WITHOUT a pickguard. So nothing will cover the beautiful wood. So the electronic-cavity will be on the backside of the body. I draw the lines of the cavity on the front the body. I also...

Time to work on the Black Limba body: The blank is 2 piece. So the sides need to planed before gluing. I have no planing machine around so I do this with a straight template and my router to get a correct straight line. In this case I use my neck template. then sanding out the marks...

Ohh... I almost forgot one maybe important detail: Normally the vintage 60ies P-Bass have a nut width of 1.75" but my friends wanted the width a bit more narrow - so I redraw the plan and changed it to 1.5" - the nut width of the 60ies Jazz Bass....

I forgot to say that the body blanks are already planned and have a thickness of 46 mm - 1mm will be lost because of sanding-work. Also the neck blanks have already a thickness of 21 mm - so because of the sanding the 13/16" will be arrived.... So we come to the neck:

Time for some routing and use the templates..... I screwed the template directly on the wood on 2 points: Just below the neck pocket and the other one where the future bridge will be, so that no hole will be visible later... You have to be careful not to rout against the grain that nothing...

Thanks and yes I will. ;) On it goes: The shape of the necks was traced on the blanks and rough cut out with the jigsaw. Also the body shape was drawn on the blanks... looks good. The alder blank is one piece expect the little piece was glued on for the lower shoulder. The limba...
