Not a fan of chromes. They sound too metallic to my ear. "Clack" while fretting is very loud and I don't like the way they feel against my fingers. Also, I did try to put a set of short scale chromes on my Hofner Ignition and it stripped the D-string tuner. Imo, put something else on your Hofner.

Strung my Sire P7 with some Rotosound 77's yesterday. Opted for through-body stringing and encountered no issues.

Bought a used 115LF recently. At a gig about a month ago, one of the amp inputs on the cabinet stopped working entirely (zero sound). Switched to the other input which worked for about month and now that one has crapped out on me too (again, zero sound). So now, no sound from either amp input...

That is always a possibility. A laptop, router, and modem are all nearby. Will re-examine my studio for good measure. However, I have never heard this specific sound before and this amp is the only new variable. It's also consistent with the conversation in this thread: Ampeg PF50T popping...

Late to the party. I'm looking at getting a Spectra Drive myself, and I've heard that the gain knob interacts with the distortion circuit in a unique way that produces fuzz. Look into that if you haven't moved on yet.
