NBD American Precision Bass

I think what your are hearing has little to do with the materials used on your finger boards. It has much more to do with the differences between the pickups and electronics. JMO.

But congrats on your bass. I’ve been playing PB for about 45 years and they are great instruments.

Could be. I noticed more control, more frequency that is, with the American than the Squier but I think the Squier sounds great. I mean, how much knob turning is done on the tone for precision bass. I know I only go from half to mute. Dimed tone is too much for me on either.

TBH, I can't feel a difference with frets. I don't know what my 2009 Fender Jazz or Pedulla has but I know the new plays very easily.

I tried Sunbeams on the jazz. Hated them. I'll keep the 7250 strings if I don't go flats but I think flats are going one of the p basses.

Hey, I’m no snob. Squiers dollar in and tone out are a great value. I was just pointing out while they look similar, they are different instruments after all and you should expect them to sound different. I will also recommend with anyone with a new instrument to spend more time of discovery searching for useable sounds-settings that you don’t already have. But, by all means play the one you like the best.

I use Sunbeams on my Dimension V and have liked them there though I am considering trying flats on either my Precision V or the Dimension. Playing post-punk Irish music so, the conventional rock tone isn't necessary. It's been more of a crutch thing...at least in my case.

Still, your bass is very nice lookin'.

I wasn't expecting the sound difference. Not bad just different.

I got to play one of those recently and boy it was so comfortable, the neck profile and the balance. Sounded fantastic. Same colors too, I love that combo. Wish I had the scratch to walk out with it that day!

Im a rounds guy myself, and I always liked those 7250 strings. I’d keep em for a while, myself.

If you're playing music with Jamerson style bass, then I think you already have your answer.
