    New Squier '51 P-Bass

Invalid Link Removed New Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster and P-Bass for spring 2011, made to look and sound like the the very first production guitar and bass. If its anything like the quality of the CV 60s Jazz, I'm guessing this P-Bass will be pretty awesome for the price. Looks like...

    Mystery Short Scale P-Bass

So I was browsing Facebook and I found this neat little bass in the background of someone's picture. It appears to be a short scale P bass of some type with an old-school pickup and two-saddle bridge. It's black headstock looks like a possible rattle-can job, but looks pretty cool. Does...

    24 Fret basses...

What is it with this forum and condescending sarcasm? (I fully expect any and all replies to contain condescending sarcasm)

    24 Fret basses...

Apparently you didn't read my original post, it was a Yahama RBX170. Yahama makes basses. Unfortunately.

    24 Fret basses...

Didn't mean for this thread to turn into troll city, but I've just always thought of anywhere above the 16th fret or so as somewhere a bassist should avoid. For me at least, its just plain awkward to play in that area, and the tone suffers. Of course, this is just my opinion.

The effect of fret number on slap tone is interesting, I never thought of it that way.

    Steve Harris' Triplets

Yeah I've noticed that having a super-light touch helps the speed. I've also heard rumors that he chalks up his fingers, like he's about to do a routine on a pommelhorse or something.

    Steve Harris' Triplets

Or is it an eighth with a rest than two sixteenths? Oh whatever.

    Steve Harris' Triplets

ysand you're right, they're an eight followed by two sixteenths, just looked up some sheet music . I guess I could use some ear training practice too. :D

    They're all... So... Beautiful...:bawl:

    24 Fret basses...

Yeah, basically it adds 3 or 4 high notes that your average bassist would never consider going near. It makes me wonder why a Yamaha sub-$200 beginner bass would have 24 frets. Sometimes I think they just want to have more frets so they can get a away with making a smaller, lighter body...

    24 Fret basses...

So The first bass I ever owned was a Yamaha RBX170, and it had 24 frets. It was also ugly, and besides its decent pickups and thin neck, was a piece of :scowl: . I've noticed that my Fender Jazz has considerably less fret buzz, even when I dig my fingers in. This could just be due to its...

    Steve Harris' Triplets

So... I'm a big Iron Maiden fan, and Steve Harris is one of my favorite bassists, but I've been kept from learning practically half of Iron Maiden's songs because of the sheer speed of his galloping triplets. As you probably all know, he is able to play gallops super fast with just two fingers...

Why do you use Fender strings?

They're roundwounds are pretty good, practically identical to D'Addarios. The thing is, D'Addarios are half the price. :D
