    Rounds vs Flats

Cant really go wrong with Mesa. I don't have the need for a full stack anymore as I mostly just do studio work. I have switched over to Aguilar in the last month. But if I were building a rig for an all out heavy sound It would be Mesa every time. My advise is to look up the bass players that...

    Rounds vs Flats

Played bass in metal bands for 30 years. 20 years in I switched to Rotosound 77s flats. It was the best sound I ever had. The fundamental of the note just pounds. I played American P basses on a Mesa boogie stack. I would boost the mids a bit and cut through anything. To me flats removed all of...

    SM57 vs SM58 for vocals....

Between the two I would use a 58 for live vocals every time. That said do prefer the Sennheiser E835 for my voice. And yes Flats for metal are awesome! After playing in a metal band for 20 years I went flats. I changed them out often to keep some of the brightness they had when new but they...

    Playing your bass unplugged

To me More than the sound of an unplugged bass is the feel. I like to put on my unplugged bass and play it. I can feel the vibrations through the wood. Some basses do it better than others.

@GregC Thanks! I do not want to move big cabs anymore but at the same time was afraid to go with the ultralight cab. Im kinda old school and like a solid cab. Thats why I got the DB instead of the SL. This cab sounds bigger than it is to me. I bet your Chocolate thunder 410 was just as heavy as...

@Snibborwocky Thank you! I am thinking the same as you. Add another 112 when we can start playing out again. I don't see me ever going back to big cabs. Enjoy!

Just joined the forum after Years of reading. Also just got my first Aguilar rig. I was looking for a good home studio bass set up. I am enjoying the tone a lot. It has a really tight low end and mid. I am coming from a full Mesa stack 4x10+15 with a carbine head. I must say that I was super...
