If Jack Bruce wanted to sign my pickguard I wouldn't object. That would be for my lasting enjoyment, not for extra ebay bucks. I don't think that most signed instruments are worth any more money.

Neck dive is moderate, meaning with a thin nylon strap it's there but not dramatic. With a thicker, suede strap it would be a non issue. Interestingly, my '72 --which has an alder body and a maple neck -- is perfectly balanced.

Thanks, lassalle69! I tried the two-point hipshot on my '72, then went back to the original. I've developed a strange affection for the bridge, even though it is a crap design. What did you gain by replacing the 3-point? Was it all about ease of setup, or were there some tonal improvements?

Yes, the lighter my instruments are, the more tone I can produce with them before collapsing. My Gibson basses (7.1 and 7.4 lb.) are every bit as tone-rich and sustaining as my Peavey (9.5 lb.).
