    Basses with Kahler Tremolo Club!

I recently bought a 1985 Hondo P-bass with what appears closest to a 7410 tremolo, at least by modern nomenclature. I'm not sure how to set it up though, all the videos I can find are for locking versions, and the way they set the spring tension and tune it involves locking. Do I just have to...

    The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

Well, the neck came in first. She's not been babied, that's for sure. Lots of dings and scratches and gunk. The skunk stripe is separating but apparently that's not a stability concern, according to some googling. It barely registers to the hand but maybe I'll glue and sand it at some point...

    The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

Well I finally got myself a Hondo bass and it was the score of the century. I'd been looking around at Squiers because i just wanted a cheap bass to record with (I'm a six-string player). I very nearly bought an Affinity PJ but it got sold the same day I went to buy it! As fate would have it, I...

Yep, the P-bass was made by Tokai, called the H-1120: H-1100 The Longhorns were technically part of the Professional Series, made by Tokai, so they should be solid wood. Best pic I could find: That's an H-1000, probably made in the '90s-early '00s, possibly Indonesian.

    The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

All the Professional Series models were *supposed to be* solid wood, although I've heard some Japanese manufacturers were inconsistent about that. But I also take everything I hear without evidence with a huge grain of salt. Most of the "information" out there about Hondos is total bunk. I've...

Oops! Added. Can any owners confirm the wood species of the Longhorns? Looks like solid Ash to me but I don't have a catalog with the specs.

Need help identifying Hondo II bass

Actually a fairly rare version of the H-830 (although that doesn't really make it worth any more, sorry), it was only made for one year with that headstock before becoming part of the Deluxe Series. So it's a 1981. Made in Korea by Samick. Value? Maybe $100-200. More info here: H-830

    The OFFICIAL (kinda) HONDO THREAD!!

Hey there Hondo fans! I'm working on a wiki for all Samick-built guitars which includes a lot of Hondos (in fact, the vast majority). Hondo It's still a work in progress but if you have any specific questions I can try to answer to the best of my ability. To clear up one common misconception...
