    Output difference

Hi, I currently run a Vincent Akurat (p bass) and a Vincent Metropol (jazz bass) but the Jazz bass has a lower output into the desk of about 3-4 db than the p bass. My pedal board is simple, Shure wireless, origin effects compressor and rupert neve rndi and in ears. Any easy way to negate this...

    Modern Vintage MVP4-62

Yes, with the guy from Sonata music. Cant remember his name but he ran a music store in NYC I believe. He collects vintage instruments, which the modern vintage guitars were based on. Rob Elrick was the guy who put them into fruition.

    Modern Vintage MVP4-62

I compared my 2008 fender p bass against my 2022 modern vintage. I recorded the same parts on both guitars, rock, reggae, soul and pop, with tone rolled on and off and I couldn't tell the difference on any of the recordings. As for quality, my fender is a good one but didnt play anywhere as good...

    Modern Vintage MVP4-62

I can concur, these modern vintage p basses are so good, I bought two, one with flat wounds and one with round wounds. I was a fender guy before, still am, but dont like glossy polyester necks which all fenders come with. You should at least try one, you'll be impressed. Best p bass I have...

    back up bass

Hi all, just a quick update. Thanks for all your advice. After many sleepless nights, tried loads of basses, I went for a P Bass. I bought a Modern Vintage from Bass Direct, made in Korea and assembled at Rob Elricks place in the USA. Just blew me away. Oozes quality.

Harsh trebly sound on Sandberg VS4 bass

Hi, interesting topic, I'm assuming the recordings are not from your amp and the DI. The clanking as you describe is a interesting topic. Do you use a cab sim? I hade a similair experiance with my bass guitars. I was looking into a cab sim, which is basically applying a kind of eq. Our sound...

    back up bass

Thanks for your input guys, always informative and entertaining. I agree about backup amps etc, however I go straight into the desk via a radial pro48, just some compression and everything cut below 40hz and above 4k. I also use Ultimate pro11 iems. A p bass might be a good idea, wont consider...

    back up bass

Hi all, my first post in a while. After many years of GAS and trying various basses I have ended up with a new Musicman Stingray special, 4 string, which I love. I have been gigging without a backup bass but everyone tells me I should get one. So my dilemma is what bass. I'm considering a...

    The best 5-string P-bass?

XOTIC DO A P BASS 5 STRING WHICH IS ACTIVE & PASSIVE, 3 BAND EQ. LOVELY INSTRUMENT IF A LITTLE HEAVY BUT ALSO NOT MANY AROUND SO PRICE IS HIGH. I WOULD CHECK OUT SANDBERG, YOU CAN EVEN CONFIGURE YOUR OWN BASS ON THEIR WEBSITE. GOOD QUALITY NOT THAT EXPENSIVE, EVEN TO HAVE ONE MADE. AS ALREADY...

Are you a 5 string or 4 string player?

I played guitar for many years. I switched to Bass approx 12 years ago. Played a five string for quite awhile but I became a little restricted in my left hand due to arthritis so swapped to a four string. Took me awhile to adapt but now play a dingwall four string. Will never go back to five.
