The Band used a p bass, but also a jazz bass, reaper and both band used a Eb-3 with that big bridge pickup. Stick to your GL and try different strings. Or at least try a P bass but also a Hollowbody with flats, jazz or find a Eb3 emulation lol. Just to make sure
