That is a rad looking bass - i bet the e string extender is an engineered solution to use normal short scale bass strings or something

These were parts basses when new - there was a pile of manufactured necks and bodies and fender put them together, sometimes with a big date gap between the body and neck. You should consider choosing a neck that works best for you and ignore date of manufacture. Full disclosure - I don't get...
