    Bass recording - what's your chain??

    Aria Pro II Super Bass with custom-made pickup ---> Ampeg SVT2 w/ Marshall 4 X12 ---> Rode NTK with Mullard valve ---> TL Audio 5051 with Mullards OR, I use a VOX AC30 and a dynamic floor tom mic for mid-range sounds.

    +1 on boosting the bass EQ where you cut the guitar. Check out later Pantera albums for an excellent example of how this should sound. IMO, the real problem is using the SVX... Even with a basic mic, if you experiment with mic position and amp settings, you will get a bass sound that pokes out...
