Advice on Geezer Butler/Jack Bruce tone(s)

Masters of Reality. I really didn’t catch that when I went over the post before submitting.

Advice on Geezer Butler/Jack Bruce tone(s)

I’m not technical enough to justify it, but I group Geezer and Jack into a similar tone category. I’ve tried out a few techniques/approaches for their tones, and not that they haven’t been successful, but my attempts haven’t been based on anything specific and lack method. Might be that there’s...

Does the aging process of an amp affect its tone?

Had to re-learn the difference between effect and affect for this one. I’m asking this in the context a BA210 I own to gauge whether or not I should entertain a different amp in the near future. After reading through a handful of threads on “breaking in” both speakers and amplifiers, I’ve...

Request Politician (Live at Albert Hall 1968) - Cream

I’ve been trying to figure out Jack’s lines on this specific recording, but haven’t had a great amount of success. Although I’ve seen some similar tabs, they’ve all been locked behind paywalls. I work with heavy equipment and steel all day, so my ears aren’t up to snuff for the task at hand. If...

Does anyone have experience with GHS Bass Boomers 70-140?

I apologize, I don't have as much familiarity with some of these contexts as I'd like to. If you can bear the stupid question, what effects does the balance of string tension have on the instrument? I would assume that disproportionate tensions would make the physical playing of the strings feel...

Does anyone have experience with GHS Bass Boomers 70-140?

If I am correct in assuming the medium gauge is .130, how does your bass handle the strings in terms of the tuners and bridge? I do not know whether or not fender instruments have larger clearances in their machined components when compared to an Epiphone, but I figure it doesn't hurt to ask.

Does anyone have experience with GHS Bass Boomers 70-140?

I genuinely appreciate the inclusion of figures, but unfortunately, I do not know how to apply this information in my selection. I haven't been able to find any tension specs for an Epiphone thunderbird, although I have heard the bolt-on neck offers increased resistance to tension related...

Does anyone have experience with GHS Bass Boomers 70-140?

I've been making do with using a 5-string set and discarding the G, but recently I've noticed my attack isn't well suited for the anything other than the low B. I have been using DR Hi-Beams and DDTs, but their gauges max out around .126. Now that I am aware of the existence of GHS's elevator...

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I have come across a handful of in-good-condition BA210V2s for just over $300, which has greatly diminished my interest in the CL micro. I am unsure if I will be lucky enough to get a mint one for a similar price though.

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I’ve found the midrange in the Orange to be expansive and the dynamics of the tonality is noticeable departure from the Ampeg’s. I’ve been searching over the Rocket Bass selection and it is very persuasive, especially considering the control panel amenities.

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

Part of the interest in the CL comes from a desire to start moving towards amp heads and cabinets rather than combos. Not to mention, the CL is $300 cheaper than the VR. I am not sure if that difference in price justifies getting it over the VR, but it is a big factor.

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I apologize, by “whole setup” I mean my amp and the two pedals I used maybe once a month. I will admit that I was not thinking when I bought the Orange, but it’s just not an ideal tone for me. I would thoroughly enjoy widening my scope, but buying, testing, returning, repeat, etc. amps is...

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I’ve had an affinity for the CL for a while but must admit I am not familiar with it. I thought it would be nice as a starter head, plus I have a handful of old stereo cabs I could ABY it into. But I will be sure to check out the Rocket Bass Combos.

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I am currently using BEAD, although I am not married to the tuning, I had accidentally bought a 5 string set for my bass a year ago and never went back. The amp would be for home use only. I live in a very rural location with no musicians to speak of, so I do not anticipate any gigs/jam sessions...

I’m in a bit of a predicament and would appreciate some wisdom on Ampeg’s “tone”.

I have been playing bass for around four years now and have developed both my abilities and tone without much thought. Unfortunately, I recently upgraded all my gear and basically dropped a nuke on both my tone and enjoyment while playing. I swapped out my starter amp, an Ampeg BA-108V2, for an...
