I'm trying to remember clearly because it's been a while, but I don't believe the Music Man pickguard is a perfect fit. I just don't remember if it's the neck area or the pickup area that I had to file/dremel to get it to fit. The screw holes lined up though.

From what I heard, the easiest fix is to pull out the bridge pickup and swap the wires at the pickup. People that swapped them at the pots ended up with grounding issues, I don't remember why.

No, but my Fender JB45M is a pretty darn nice bass, and if you just go by the prices it's the lesser of the two Fender Japan 32" Jazz basses. I also have a Warmoth build though so the Fender will likely be for sale later this summer after I move.

I tried a Newport, it wasn't great and I sold it soon after. Someday I'd like to sell several basses, or some other stuff like maybe an extra internal organ and buy my favorite Newport, the Serek Midwestern.
