Found a 1990 MM StingRay fretless neck on Reverb. Bought a new Ray34 and swapped the neck. Close your eyes and it sounds just like a MM StingRay.

I played it. Really good sound. Lightweight and looks great. It is shaped just like their standard laminate bass. They have 2 prototypes in the shop. They are hoping to either do a kickstarter or just get at least 50 orders to get started making them. Price point about $5K.

Thanks for all the replies. No info available on the Upton website. I’ll be on the road near their shop next week. I’m hoping to stop by and play one. I’ll report back.
