So over $500 is the going rate? Seems a shame when I've gotten all my MIJ guitars/basses for about that or less. So you've played a quarter pounder and you think they're similar? Everyone talks about how this bass is really versatile with the pickup and the tone knob, able to get a wide range...

Can someone tell me how much these usually go for in the US and which colors are easy or hard to find? And if you've found a pickup that sounds similar to the stock one? I recently stumbled upon a shell pink one on eBay. I have a thing for pink guitars and I love the sound of these from YouTube...

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Yeah I mentioned that I owned a MIJ Mustang (had Nordstrand NM4 pickups) and that I played the new PJ Mustang and liked it. I'm just having a discussion here bud, no need to get defensive or call someone a wanker because our experiences differ. If we were chatting in a music shop as fellow bass...

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Like I said in my message, there is less tension on the strings on a short scale. It's logical that looseer strings are not going to "pop" as much and have the same sound. Loosen a string down a whole note and see how much more dead the string sounds. Same concept for long scale vs short scale.

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

You may both be experiencing the inherent dead sound of short scales; at least that's been my experience. I had a MIJ Mustang with some aftermarket hot "little P" mustang pickups (forgot the brand) and it still sounded boomy, muddy, bassy, didn't cut through the mix etc. Then I noticed even...

New PJ Mustang at Summer NAMM

Has anyone noticed excessive fret buzz on this? This bass is perfect for me but it really buzzed at the store and I can't have that showing through on my recordings. Even all the demo videos on youtube (unless I'm imagining it) you can hear it buzzes more than basses played in other demo...

SOLD 2014 Fender American Special Nitro P-Bass

I have the same bass, even with the black pick guard! Glws, I've had mine on craigslist for months with no interest :( I don't get it, this is an awesome finish and it's the best sounding P bass I've ever heard. Really didn't like the sound of P basses before hearing the American specials. I...

    P Pickups into Mustang Questions

I know they won't sound the same, I'm just hoping I can settle for as close as I can possibly get. I've also considered getting something with more of an edge to it, like the SD quarter pound, in hopes that that will compensate for it. I want to try Fender first though. Thanks man! Yeah I guess...

    P Pickups into Mustang Questions

So what? Do P basses sound bad? I do like the sound of the Mustang but it does not work for my band at all. I need something that cuts through more. Listen to a few songs from our recent EP and you'll hear how pathetic the Mustang sounds in the mix The Wallies. Listen at about 1:20 on the song...

    P Pickups into Mustang Questions

I have several questions regarding my upcoming project. I have an American Special P bass and I want to sell it and get as close that sound as possible with my Mustang. Short version of my questions: Can I drop the P pickups in, do the greasebucket mod and have it sound as close as possible to...
