    J Bass vs. P Bass

I have a P-J, and I took the Jazz bridge pup out! I just left it empty. I've played it this way for 6 months or so. (I've played bass for almost 20 years though.) I usually play about 2 to 4 gigs per week, so I've gotten a lot of chances to listen in a band context. Recently I've worked on...

What bass & amp was used on this song?

Wow, you are right. That is one of the best bass tones I have ever heard. And it's a rockin' bass line. Thanks!

What amp has less low end? I'm stuck.

I'm in agreement with the sealed cab answer that several have given. That will give you the tight, clear low frequencies that you desire, IMO. That is a sound that maybe you have heard before and it made a good impression. Now nothing else will do. :) (Or maybe not. But it sure sounds like that...

I turned off my bass......nobody noticed!

Since I'm very conscious about stage noise, I tend to play as quietly as I can and still hear myself. On many occasions I've been asked to turn up by the other musicians! Concerning your situation, the only explanation that makes sense to me is that the others are not used to hearing you...

    String tension: D'Addario ECB81S vs Rotosound RS77S

Thanks! This is interesting and informative. I'm in the process of trying several different string types and this info helps.

    Gap between Strings and Fretboard....

If you play with unusally high action for the purpose of developing hand strength, and it puts enough stress on the hand so that soreness develops, it could lead to problems that you have to deal with for weeks, or months, or the rest of your life. There is no need to push your hands that way...

    fun with tone...

This is fun, and I want to play,... but I don't have a clue which is which! But I like the different tones.

How do effect loops work? (GK700RB and VT Bass content)

This is complicated so get ready... You need a loop switcher. It is a small pedal that has... 1. an input jack 2. an output jack 3. two loops that toggle back and forth with a footswitch 4. loop #1 has a send jack and a return jack 5. loop #2 has a send jack and a return jack Hook it...

    Class D amp

Actually, there is an important factor that sets some amps apart from others, especially in the low frequencies, that may (or may not) relate to the D-class amps. But I'm basing what I'm about to say on info I've read over the last few months, and I'm no expert. Plus, I can't recall the details...

    Do you think or play?

^Yeah, this. And you mentioned chromatic runs. It's so much easier to find the good chromatic notes when I'm relating them to the chords I'm playing. Moving from 4 to 5 for instance. The #4 is wonderful. Or the b3 moving to the 3. It's all related to what was before and what is coming up...

    Do you think or play?

I think in terms of numbers. I can read charts with the chord names also, but I greatly prefer numbers. I've put time into learning the music theory of chords and chord changes, and it's just a matter of following the chart and having fun with the possibilities. Of course, I've spent a...

    New Warmoth neck contour?

I'm curious about this also. I'd love to see the weight of... 1. a solid wood neck 2. a neck with graphite 3. a neck with steel. Maybe the Warmoth rep could possibly find this info? (Sorry. I understand that it may not be possible or readily available.) Anyway, I love that you (the...

    Schecter Diamond P?

I'll throw in my 2 cents... I almost bought a Diamond P. I played one at the Chattanooga Guitar Center and then played one at the Knoxville GC. It (both) sounded better than any bass I've ever played. Well, I know that is very subjective, and I know some may think I've probably never...

P-Bass too bassy. Strings or pickups?

First let me say,... you have great taste in video clips!!! Man, those two clips have me ready to... well, I don't know what... but ready for something. Now for the tone... Yeah, that Jamiroquai clip has one of the best bass tones I've ever heard. And I hear what you are saying about the...
