Thank you. I figured as much but wanted a 2nd opinion.

    Tuner pegs

I'd like to jump in on this thread with a question. Are there any tone/sustain advantages to 3/8" diameter vs 1/2" diameter tuner posts? I'm at a point where I'm laying out a peghead for a Warmoth neck that is not yet drilled and I can go either diameter. Thanks

    Sire P7 Replacement Knobs!

Thanks everyone for all of this exceptionally valuable information. Just bought a Sire Vintage V7 - knobs should not be a week point on any bass.

    Sire M5 vs. M7?

    Very possibly true.

    Sire M5 vs. M7?

I agree on the scarf joint being strong and I know that's been accepted construction techniques in guitars for probably a couple centuries. I guess in my opinion, they put the laminated neck on enough of the M series now that I would expect it on the M7 4s. I think the 5 string and 6 string...

    Sire M5 vs. M7?

I'm right there with you. I get these are not $2000 instruments, but when you put out your high end, what the hell are you doing putting on a scarf jointed one piece neck on the M7 and the 5 piece laminated neck on the M5? I really wanted the figured maple top plate and matching headstock cap...

    DIY Stingray 3EQ Preamp

Also Robbie, I am using 2 Seymour Duncan ceramic MM pickups. I don’t absolutely need to have the Active/Passive switching, or the passive tone control for that matter. The benefit for my P/J is that in passive mode, I basically have a Jazz Bass configuration. And I’m not planning on putting in...

    DIY Stingray 3EQ Preamp

Group, I just stumble onto this thread and what incredible timing. I'm about to build a Stingray from scratch and wanted to build the preamp as well. I am planning on trying out a different wiring scheme to the preamp. This is a Nordstrand scheme that I bought and am using in a Fender P/J...

For those looking for a GK800rb Gig Bag (I was)

If you are a GK 800rb lover, have the amp and are beating the heck out of it by dragging it around in the open, I finally found a gig bag that fits and has a front pocket for the power and two speaker cables I carry. It is the Gator GP-66 - and the price is right! [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Nordstrand 3b-4a Preamp in a Fender Deluxe Active p-bass

Since I posted this, I learned that the Fender OEM Treble Active control was supposed to be functional in passive mode as on the American version. However, I tried to get some form of Treble roll off with every pot on the bass in passive mode and I heard no tone difference. I stand by my...

Nordstrand 3b-4a Preamp in a Fender Deluxe Active p-bass

I bought a Fender Deluxe Active P-Bass in January and was very surprised to see that although you get an active/passive switch, there is no tone control in passive mode. For me the switch was useless. Additionally, the mid control was way too hot and cause clipping when the bass was boosted...

    Fender Rumble Club

Just bought the Rumble 500 Combo and Rumble 115 cabinet from Sweetwater. Just an excellent amp. I play a Fender P 62' RI with Roto Jazz flats. Play finger and pick when required. I love the tone, versatility and power. I just retired my Ampeg SVT and 810 cab. Can't wait for the first gig...

    John Deacon Precision Bass Build

Not sure where this belongs, but this looks like a good spot. John Deacon is my very favorite bassist, and I'm a luthier that plays bass. So I thought a fitting project would be to replicate John Deacon's Fender Precision, which is actualy a late 60's Sunburst p-bass that he stripped the...
